3ο Φεστιβάλ Ρεμπέτικου «Η Σύρα του Μάρκου Βαμβακάρη»

Με μεγάλη μας χαρά σας προσκαλούμε στο 3ο Φεστιβάλ Ρεμπέτικου «Η Σύρα του Μάρκου Βαμβακάρη» το οποίο διεξάγεται στη Σύρο, από Τετάρτη 29/8 έως και Κυριακή 2/9. Το Φεστιβάλ πραγματοποιείται με τη συνεργασία του Δήμου Σύρου – Ερμούπολης και του Επιμελητηρίου Κυκλάδων, υπό την αιγίδα και την υποστήριξη του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού και περιλαμβάνει ένα πλήρες πρόγραμμα εκδηλώσεων (συναυλίες, σεμινάρια, έκθεση λαϊκών μουσικών οργάνων κλπ) με θέμα τη λαϊκή μας μουσική το «ρεμπέτικο», υπό το πρίσμα της σχέσης του Μάρκου Βαμβακάρη με τη Σύρο.
Στη φετινή διοργάνωση γίνεται για πρώτη φορά ένα «άνοιγμα» στο εξωτερικό, με συμμετοχή σχημάτων από την Ιταλία και την Κύπρο, κάτι που προσδοκούμε να συνεχιστεί και στο μέλλον, ώστε να ενισχύσει τη «διεθνή» διάσταση του Φεστιβάλ.
3rd Rembetiko Festival “Syra of Markos Vamvakaris”

We invite you to enjoy the 3rd Rembetiko Festival “Syra of Markos Vamvakaris”, that will take place at Syros Island in Greece, on Wednesday, 29th July to Sunday, 2nd August 2018. The festival is organized by the Municipality of Syros – Ermoupolis in collaboration with the Cyclades Chamber.
This year’s event is taking place under the support and aegis of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, in recognition of its organizational competence and its contribution to the preservation and promotion of the intangible cultural heritage of Syros.
Urban folk music has flourished on Syros as an integral element of culture since the early 20th century. The songs of the great singer and songwriter Markos Vamvakaris have made Rebetiko music and Syros known all over the world, inspiring the establishment of this festival.
This year’s edition features an extensive range of events like concerts, seminars and exhibitions, highlighting the contribution of Markos Vamvakaris and his native island Syros, to Greek and world music. It is noteworthy that this year the festival is reaching abroad, with the participation of artists from Italy and Cyprus, something we expect to broaden in the future, in order to enhance the “international” dimension of the Festival.
